Wisdom teeth for students and young adults
Wisdom teeth most often cause problems in the late teens and twenties, so students and recent graduates, including those at the University of Guelph, are in the age group where a dentist may recommend removal. Typical reasons include teeth that are impacted, partly erupted and repeatedly infected, or crowding that a dentist or orthodontist wants addressed.
Timing matters for students. Recovery from wisdom teeth removal usually takes several days of rest and a softer diet, so plan around exams and work shifts. Our guides to wisdom teeth recovery, what to eat afterwards and antibiotics after surgery explain what to expect.
We also treat Guelph-area patients for dental implants, bone grafting, impacted canine exposure coordinated with an orthodontist, and oral pathology assessments. Our surgeons work with referring dentists and keep them informed after treatment.
